2024 Post-Market CSA (6 weeks; Oct 2nd-Nov 7th)

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for 'Community Supported Agriculture'.  According to the National Agriculture Library a CSA is 'one type of direct marketing, consists of a community of individuals who pledge support to a farm operation… with the growers and consumers providing mutual support and sharing the risks and benefits of food production.’  In a typical CSA, a customer will purchase a share up front and in exchange receive a weekly box of produce for the agreed upon period of time.

Our CSA

2024 is our first year offering a post-market CSA!  We're offering a limited number of small and large shares available for preorder online and at Red Lodge Farmers Market.  For six weeks you'll recieve a farmer's choice box of seasonal veggies from our market garden.

Our growing practices:  Although we are not certified organic, we follow organic/beyond organic growing practices focused on maintaining and improving soil and ecosystem health.  All of our veggies are soil-grown and chemical free.

Types of veggies to expect in our fall CSA:   Microgreens (pea shoots, sunflower shoots, purple radish micros, micro mix), baby greens (arugula, baby lettuce, spinach, spring mix), romaine lettuce, braising mix, bunching greens (swiss chard, lacinato, red curly & green curly kale), radicchio, Napa cabbage,  herbs (cilantro, dill, parsley, sage, tarragon), scallions, broccolini, green-stemmed cauliflower, fennel, celery, tomatoes, radishes, salad turnips, kohlrabi, carrots, beets, parsnips,  garlic.  As a CSA member you'll also receive a weekly e-newsletter containing a description of the contents of your box, preparation/storage recommendations, recipes and farm updates.

Other Add-on's:  As the season progresses additional add-on items may become available.  We'll let you know about these in our weekly e-newsletter.

CSA Pickup:  Choose either Wednesday on-farm pickup 4:30-6pm OR Thursday Lions Park pickup 4:30-6pm.  Please choose and try to stick with one option for the duration of the CSA season.  If you need to switch your day please give us 48 hours advance notice.  We do not offer refunds if you need to miss a week.  However, you can arrange to have a friend pick up your share or we will donate it to Baretooth Cupboards (Carbon County community food bank).

Sharing the Risk, Refunds & Cancellations: If you order a CSA share and need to cancel before the beginning of the season, we will refund your payment minus the cost of one week.  No cancellations during the season.  Purchasing a CSA means that you are agreeing to share in the risks of crop failure due to seasonal weather extremes, pest & disease outbreaks, and other unforeseen circumstances. We will fulfill the full value of your CSA, but later season boxes may include less variety of veggies (in particular they may include fewer perishable veggies like greens and more storage veggies).  In the event of extreme crop failure we may purchase vegetables from nearby Montana or Wyoming farms to fill your share.

Communication:  If you have a question about our CSA or need to modify your pickup day you can contact us via email root2risegardens@gmail.com or call/text 406-600-1226.  Email and text are preferred as we often have our hands full with a task out in the field.  If you prefer to call please leave a message and we'll do our best to get back to you within 24 hours.

Thank you for your interest in supporting local food & local farms.  We look forward to getting to know you & growing our farm community!
